Email a guest a link to pay what they owe by card before the day, for example for a booking your team added by phone. The money goes to your Stripe account like any other online payment.

Before you start

Email a payment link shows under Tickets and payment on a booking when:

  • Stripe is connected and Active. See Connect Stripe to take online payments.
  • The booking is on hold, awaiting payment or confirmed, and something is still to pay.
  • The booking hasn't started yet.
  • The guest has an email address.
  1. Go to Bookings in the sidebar and open the booking.
  2. Under Tickets and payment, select Email a payment link.

A message confirms the email address it went to. The guest gets an email with the booking details, the amount to pay and a Pay now button. It opens a payment page with Stripe's card form. The booking's timeline shows Sent to pay online and Payment link emailed.

  • The link works for up to 24 hours, and always closes before the booking starts. The email tells the guest until when.
  • From about half an hour before the start, Email a payment link no longer shows, as the guest wouldn't have time to pay. Take the payment on the day instead.
  • If you send it again while the link is still open, the guest gets the same link with the same closing time. Once it has closed, sending again makes a new one.

What happens next

  • When the guest pays, the timeline shows Paid online, Paid goes up and Still to pay goes down, and the booking's Payment changes from Pay on arrival to Online. Your team also sees Paid online in the notifications bell.
  • A confirmed booking stays confirmed whether the guest pays or not. Halfway through the time the link works, the guest gets one reminder that they can still pay ahead. If they don't pay by link, they pay on the day as before.
  • A booking awaiting payment keeps its places while the link is open. The guest gets one reminder halfway, and the booking expires if they don't pay in time.
  • TicketPa's fee on online payments applies. When you pass it on to guests, the link adds the booking fee to what they pay. See Online payment fees explained.

Note: Moving the booking to another time closes a link that's still open, so send a new one if the guest still wants to pay ahead. If the guest pays everything in person instead, record it with Take a payment and the link closes, so they can't pay twice.
