How TicketPa and Understory differ
Monthly price and booking fees
Understory's Starter, Growth and Enterprise plans cost €29, €59 and €179 a month plus 4%, 3.25% or 2.5% per booking, also on bookings paid on arrival. Starter covers up to 500 bookings a year and Growth up to 1,500. Past that, the account moves up a plan. Every plan includes team members at no extra cost. TicketPa's Basic, Standard and Pro plans cost €19, €49 and €99 a month plus 2%, 1% or 0.5% of online payments, with no booking limit. Basic has one login, Standard 10 and Pro as many as you need.
Payments
Understory Pay, provided by Adyen, takes cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, MobilePay, Vipps, Swish and Klarna. Its card fees come on top of the booking fee. For Visa and Mastercard cards from the EEA, they are 1.4%. Its terms also mention Stripe or PayPal as options. TicketPa takes online payments through your own Stripe account, with Stripe's fees on top: 1.5% + €0.25 for a standard EEA card. Pay on arrival works without Stripe.
Marketplaces and marketing tools
Understory connects to marketplaces including GetYourGuide and Truestory, and charges 1.75% on bookings that come through them. It also sells gift cards, and offers to build your website and run your Google and Meta ads. With Understory Pay, it connects to e-conomic, Tripletex and Fortnox for your bookkeeping.
On the day
Both check guests in by scanning QR tickets in the browser: Understory on every plan, TicketPa on Standard and Pro. Those TicketPa plans also include walk-ins, time slot cancellations and digital waivers that guests sign before they come. We found no digital waivers in Understory's help center or on its pricing page on 27 October 2026. It lets you ask guests questions when they book.

Is Understory free?

Does Understory charge a fee on bookings paid on arrival?
Yes. Understory's help center says its booking fee still applies when guests pay on arrival. The fee is added to your monthly Understory invoice. Its pricing page puts the fee at 4% on Starter, so about €4 on a €100 booking. TicketPa adds no fee to bookings paid on arrival, on any plan.
What do 40 online bookings a month at €100 each cost on Understory and TicketPa?
That is €4,000 a month, or 480 bookings a year, within the 500 that Understory Starter covers. Starter costs €29 plus 4% (€160), so €189 a month. Growth comes to the same: €59 plus 3.25% (€130). TicketPa Standard costs €49 plus 1% (€40), so €89. If guests pay the booking fee instead, you pay only the monthly price: €29 on Understory Starter, €19 on TicketPa Basic (one login, no QR check-in or waivers) or €49 on TicketPa Standard. Card fees are extra on both, and a little lower on Understory Pay for EEA cards: 1.4%, against 1.5% + €0.25 on Stripe.
