# Ask guests to sign a waiver

A waiver is text guests agree to before they come, like a release for an outdoor activity. Add one to an activity and everyone on each booking signs it from their ticket, under their own name.

## Steps to add a waiver

1. Go to **Activities** in the sidebar, open the activity and select the **Waiver** tab.
2. Type or paste the text under **What guests agree to**. It can be up to 20,000 characters.
3. Select **Save waiver**.

Guests are asked to sign it from then on, including guests who booked before you added it. To stop asking, empty the box and select **Save waiver**.

## How guests sign

- The confirmation email tells guests that everyone in the group signs the waiver on their ticket before they come. **View your ticket** in the email opens it. See [Emails your guests get](https://ticketpa.com/help/guest-emails).
- On the ticket, the **Waiver** section shows your text. Each person enters their name under **Full name of the person signing**, ticks **I have read the waiver and agree to it.** and selects **Sign the waiver**. A group signs one after another on the same ticket.
- A booking takes one signature per person on it, and each name can sign only once.
- If someone still hasn't signed when the reminder email goes out, it reminds the guest that the group has a waiver to sign.

With each signature, TicketPa keeps the name, the time, and the internet address and browser it was signed from.

## See who has signed

- On a time slot's guest list, each booking shows **Waiver signed**, **Waiver not signed**, or for a group how many have signed, like **Waivers 2 of 4**.
- The same badge shows in the **For the team** panel when you scan or open a guest's ticket.
- Each signature appears on the booking's **Timeline** as **Waiver signed**, with the name of the person who signed.

> **Note:** A missing signature doesn't stop you checking guests in. Look at the badge on the guest list and ask anyone who hasn't signed to do it on their ticket. See [Check guests in](https://ticketpa.com/help/check-in-guests).

## Change the waiver

Edit the text and select **Save waiver**. The changed text becomes a new version: the tab shows its number, its date and how many times it has been signed. Signatures already made keep the words that were signed.

Guests with a booking still to come sign the new version, even if they signed an earlier one. Their ticket says "The waiver has changed since your group signed it, so everyone signs the new version.", the guest list counts only signatures of the new version, and the reminder email asks them to sign. Bookings that have already ended keep what was signed for the day.
