# Edit a time slot

Edit a single time slot when one run differs from the schedule: an extra place, a closed morning or a later start. The change affects only that time slot, and from then on the schedule leaves it alone.

## Steps to edit a time slot

1. Go to **Calendar** in the sidebar and select the time slot.
2. Change what you need:
    - **Date** and **Start time**: move the time slot. Both are locked once it has started.
    - **Places**: how many places it has. It can't go below the places already booked.
    - **Open for bookings**: untick it to close the time slot, tick it to open it again.
3. Select **Save time slot**.

## Close or open a time slot

A closed time slot takes no new bookings, from guests or from your team. Its bookings stay as they are, and it shows with a dashed outline in the calendar.

If closed dates cover the time slot, you can't open it here. TicketPa says "Closed dates cover this time. Reopen those dates to open it."

To call a time slot off and cancel its bookings, cancel it from its guest list instead. See [Cancel a time slot](https://ticketpa.com/help/cancel-a-time-slot). A cancelled time slot can't be changed.

## Move a time slot

Pick a new **Date** or **Start time**, in the activity's timezone. The new time must be in the future, and the activity can't already have a time slot then. When it has bookings, the equipment and spaces they use must be free at the new time. Otherwise TicketPa says what isn't, like "Not free at that time: Boat." Staff follow the time slot to the new time where they are free.

What happens to the bookings on it:

- They move with the time slot, and their tickets show the new time. Each booking's timeline shows the move.
- Tick **Email the guests** to send guests who gave an email address their new time. Leave it unticked to tell them yourself: each booking shows the guest's email and phone.
- Their reminder email is sent again before the new time, even if it already went out for the old one, unless the new time is closer than your reminder setting.

To move one booking instead of the whole time slot, see [Move a booking to another time](https://ticketpa.com/help/move-a-booking).

> **Note:** When you move a time slot that came from a schedule, the schedule remembers where it put it and doesn't create a new time slot at the original time.

## Remove a time slot

**Remove** shows only on a one-off time slot that hasn't started and has never been booked, not even by a booking that was later cancelled. A time slot from a schedule can only be closed, as the schedule would bring it back. See [Add a one-off time slot](https://ticketpa.com/help/add-a-one-off-time-slot).
