# Create an activity

Updated 2026-10-14 by the TicketPa team. Source: https://ticketpa.com/help/create-an-activity

An activity is anything guests book, like a tour, a class or a massage. Create one for each thing you sell. It starts as a draft, so guests can't see it until you publish it.

## Steps to create an activity

1. Go to **Activities** in the sidebar and select **Create activity**.
2. Under **How do guests book?**, choose:
    - **At set times**: you set the times, and guests share the places, like a tour, a class or an escape room.
    - **At a free time with your staff**: guests pick any free time, and one person from your staff is booked, like a massage or a private lesson. See [Set up appointments](https://ticketpa.com/help/set-up-appointments).

    You can't change this later.

3. Fill in the basics:
    - **Name**: what guests see, up to 120 characters.
    - **How long it lasts**: in hours and minutes, from 5 minutes up to 14 days.
    - **Location**: where it starts. Choose **No fixed location** if it has none. If you have no locations yet, you can add one later. Activities booked at a free time need a location, up to 24 hours long.
    - **Short description**: one or two sentences for the booking page, up to 280 characters.
4. Select **Create activity**.

TicketPa saves it as a draft and opens its **Details** tab.

## The activity's tabs

Every activity has eight tabs. Its status and the buttons to publish or archive it sit above them.

| Tab | What you set there |
| ------------------------ | ----------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Details** | Name, length, location and what guests read |
| **Pricing** | Tickets, private group prices and add-ons |
| **Schedule** | The days and times it runs |
| **Times** | Instead of Schedule, for appointments: when they can start |
| **Photos** | Up to 10 photos |
| **Policies** | When guests can book, group sizes and cancellations |
| **Staff** | How many people each time slot needs, and who can run it |
| **Equipment and spaces** | What it uses, like a room per time slot or a bike per guest |
| **Waiver** | Text guests sign before they come |

## Fill in the Details tab

The **Details** tab has three parts:

- **Basics**: the name, how long it lasts and the location.
- **Descriptions**: the **Short description**, and a **Full description** of up to 5,000 characters. A blank line starts a new paragraph. Guests read it under **About** on the activity's booking page.
- **What to expect**: **What's included** and **What to bring**, one item per line, up to 20 items each. Guests see both on the booking page, and **What to bring** on their ticket too.

Select **Save details** when you're done.

> **Note:** A new length changes the end time of the activity's upcoming time slots from its schedule, booked ones included. Time slots you changed by hand keep theirs. A new location can move them too, when its timezone is different. See [How time slots work](https://ticketpa.com/help/how-time-slots-work).

## Good to know

- Renaming an activity doesn't change its link, so links you shared keep working.
- The **Activities** list shows published activities first, then drafts, then archived ones. Each card shows the cover photo, the status and how many upcoming time slots it has.
- You can't delete an activity. When you stop selling it, archive it. See [Publish, unpublish or archive an activity](https://ticketpa.com/help/publish-an-activity).

Next, add the activity's prices on the **Pricing** tab. See [Set prices for an activity](https://ticketpa.com/help/set-prices).
