Cancel a whole time slot when it can't go ahead, for example because of a storm warning. Every booking on it is cancelled and refunded in full, and guests can get an email about it.

## Steps to cancel a time slot

1. Open the time slot's guest list. On the **Dashboard**, select it under **Today's time slots**, or select it in the **Calendar** and then **Open the guest list**.
2. Select **Cancel time slot** at the top.
3. Add a **Reason, for your team** if you like. Guests don't see it.
4. Leave **Email the guests** ticked to tell them by email, or untick it.
5. Add a **Note for the guests (optional)**, like why it's called off. It goes in their email.
6. Select **Cancel time slot**.

**Email the guests** and the note only show when the time slot has bookings. Select **Keep it** to close the window without cancelling.

## What happens next

- Every booking on the time slot is cancelled, whether it is confirmed, checked in, a no-show, on hold or awaiting payment.
- Everything guests paid is owed back. Online payments are refunded to their card through Stripe without you doing anything. Money taken in person, in cash, by card on site or by bank transfer, is yours to give back.
- With **Email the guests** ticked, guests with a confirmed booking get an email saying what they get back, with your note and a **Book another time** button while the activity is published. Guests refunded online also get a refund email once Stripe confirms it.
- The time slot shows as **Cancelled** and takes no more bookings. Your schedule leaves it alone, and its staff and the equipment and spaces it held, like a boat, are free for other time slots.

> **Note:** Cancelling a time slot can't be undone. A cancelled time slot can't be changed or reopened in the calendar. If it can go ahead after all, add a one-off time slot at the same time. See [Add a one-off time slot](https://ticketpa.com/help/add-a-one-off-time-slot).

## Good to know

- You can cancel a time slot until it ends.
- To stop new bookings but keep the ones you have, close the time slot in the calendar instead. See [Edit a time slot](https://ticketpa.com/help/edit-a-time-slot).
- To call off several days, a location or an activity at once, close the dates. See [Close dates for holidays and days off](https://ticketpa.com/help/close-dates).
- Cancelling a time slot comes with Standard and Pro. On Basic, you can still cancel the booked time slots on dates you closed, from **Closed dates**.
- To cancel only one guest's booking, see [Cancel a booking](https://ticketpa.com/help/cancel-a-booking).

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I cancel a time slot without refunding guests?

No. Cancelling a time slot gives back everything guests paid. To give back less, cancel each booking on its own and choose **What the policy allows**.

### Do guests get an email if I untick Email the guests?

They don't get the cancellation email. A guest who paid online still gets the refund email once Stripe confirms their refund.
